Guidlines for Posting

Whether you are posting on http://direct.colts.com/ or www.colts.com/forums, the same rules apply.

1. You cannot advertise for anything here, INCLUDING TICKETS (unless it is an official post from the Colts' organization, of course!). This means you also cannot solicit or advertise other websites or blogs, including via PM, blogs or on the public forum.

2. Look for posts about what you want to discuss before starting a new one. In other words--please search! If you cannot find your thread or post and it was similar to one already on the board, then it has probably been merged or moved - NOT deleted. Please place your new threads in the appropriate discussion sub-forum, including the off-topic (Off the Field) discussion area. Otherwise they will be moved to the correct location.

3. This is a PG-13 site and forum. That includes *masked* profanity and sexual innuendo. Don't post it and don't try to be clever and "get around the filter". "Smack" talk, insults, disrespect, starting flame wars...all against the rules here. No *trolling* is allowed here in any manner. Personal attacks of any sort will not be tolerated and this includes *inciting* other members to "take the bait". Personal shots are always conversation stoppers and they are unsportsmanlike conduct, thus they are not 'cool' on this site. The simple rule and official policy here is "don't be a jerk".

4. Debates/discussions involving race, religion, politics, etc. *ALWAYS* spiral out of control and really have no place on a FOOTBALL forum. So please refrain from such 'hot' topics here.

5. Do not link to or promote other boards as it causes issues with their fans, especially where they are discussing something concerning our team. This only serves to create board wars and all such links will be deleted and posts/threads edited. Such links can also be viewed as 'promotion' (see rule #1).

6. If you post an news, blog, magazine or other type of written/published article...please provide a URL link and do not quote or post the entire article in the forum. This is generally a copyright violation and it also takes up a lot of space. Usually 10% of the original material as a summary is acceptable, along with the link back to the full article.

7. If you have a problem with the rules or with moderation, PM (private message) a member of the mod squad. Public discussion of site and forum moderation (including in the blogs) is against the rules.

8. Do not post copyrighted NFL video, links to copyrighted NFL video or illegal NFL radio feeds *anywhere* in the forum or on the site. This is especially true of online game day feeds.Requesting and posting online links to NFL games that are not sanctioned by the NFL are illegal and will be deleted and posters subject to restricted site/forum access. Please make sure that any other videos you post do not include copyrighted material.

9. Any images or videos posted in the forum should be no larger than 800 x 600. Graphics of any sort (photos, videos, avatars) posted anywhere on the site (including blogs) should comply with all existing rules, including those concerning profanity, vulgarity, trolling, inciting, innuendo, etc. Please keep it "family-friendly". If you feel that images in the forum are distracting from discussions, you have the option of 'turning off' avatars, images and signatures within your user control panel under board preferences.

10. Signatures in all forums are limited to one image - no larger than 100 x 400 or no longer than 3 lines of regular-sized *text* only. No URLs are allowed. No sigs may contain any type of advertising. It is also common courtesy that if you quote another poster in your sig that you ask for permission to do so. Avatars will be your choice of an additional profile photo and has a max size of 90 x 90. It should be automatically resized by the system.

11. New users should introduce themselves in the members' INTRODUCTION thread (found in the OFF THE FIELD forum). PLEASE DO NOT START A NEW THREAD TO SAY HELLO TO THE FORUM. It is not that we don't want you to feel welcome, but if everyone starts an "I'm new here" thread we end up with 2-3 pages a day of "I'm new here." We like to keep it all in one spot and organized so everyone knows where to look for your 'bio'.

12. Fans from all teams are welcome here, but please respect that this is the COLTS' FAN SITE & FORUM. All posters should respect other members, other teams and their fans, NFL players and personnel. Insulting "nicknames" are not respectful and not appropriate to use in the forum. No one has to resort to playground antics in order to have a debate/discussion.

13. Please realize that this is a community of all types of fans - from the casual observer who may watch the games simply because they like a certain player to the "stat-guru" who knows all of the numbers for every player to the next wannabe NFL Network analyst who knows the plays & positions and can break it down each week. Then there is everyone else in between, like most of us, who are here to just talk about our team or football or to learn more about the game. No one type of fan is better than the other. So don't make fun of folks who are new or less knowledgeable about players or plays and please don't call those who are more wise about the game (or think they are) a "know-it-all". Maybe everyone can learn something from another poster in one way or another - whether it is creative, interesting, amusing, informative...it is a community - a big family of sorts. It is called mutual respect.

14. Forum users are only allowed one *active* username or posting ID. If you have an issue or problem with yours, please contact a member of the moderation team and we can help you. Don't just create a new one and actively post with more than username. Additionally, please make sure that your profile ID is an acceptable, family-friendly username. Vulgar, insulting and trollish usernames will be banned or disabled.

15. Many times, if there is a minor rule violation - a post will simply be edited for content, the poster(s) may receive a private message from a mod or there will be a general message - either in the forum or in Maureen's blog - regarding behavior directed toward everyone. Please heed the gentle reminders so that further action does not have to be taken. Stronger infractions (or continued/habitual minor ones) can result in an official WARNINGS. Multiple warnings can result in temporary restriction(s) in site access. If this occurs, please just wait until the temporary restriction ('ban') is over and review the rules in the meantime. If you create an additional account in order to continue to post after being restricted, all accounts will become permanently banned from the community.

Please remember that the COLTS FAN FORUM is part of the FAN COMMUNITY known as COLTS DIRECT. There is a social site and a forum site with separate logins for the moment due to platform technical issues. However, we are still one fan community and we will not tolerate members from either part of the fan site speaking disparagingly about the other. The Colts want all fans to have a community that offers options for everyone. So if you prefer the social aspects of Colts Direct or the discussion area of the Fan Forum (or BOTH!), please remember that we are all one family...one site...one community.

Thank you for your cooperation in all of these matters.
